The Golden Globes Red Carpet Rocked!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

We love awards season and especially watching the red carpet parade of fabulous gowns (usually) and the Golden Globes Red Carpet rocked.  Remember the days when celebrities were dressed by Hollywood costume designers or dressed themselves?  We have to admit it, we loved waiting for the “disasters”.  In these days of stylists and every designer vying to dress the “A-Listers” there are very few disasters anymore.  But that doesn’t mean we liked every choice, or trend.  The trends we are liking are pockets in gowns (see Amy Schumer’s), the metallic look, and the old time Hollywood glamour look too (Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga).  The trend that we really dislike, which started last year, is not just the low cleavage look, but the wide cleavage look too. It is just not attractive on anyone. And the dress we most hated to love? Jane Fonda’s.  Here are our gallery picks and pans today.  What do you think?

Pockets and Satin.  We love pockets and having them in evening gowns is terrific.

The Golden Globes Red Carpet Rocked!, pockets and satin Amy Schumer looked terrific in this slimming color blocked gown. And both she and show that off-the shoulder gowns can be sexy too.  And we love the plum color on Lilly Tomlin.

The Golden Globes Red Carpet Rocked!Bellamy Young (Mellie on Scandal) is way too curvaceous to wear this look, Jaime Alexander (whose dress would have been our favorite with more fabric) and Taylor Schilling looks like she forget the cami.

Metallics.  We saw a lot of beautiful metallic gowns on the red carpet. Here were three of our favs.

The Golden Globes Red Carpet Rocked!Julianne Moore never disappoints on the red carpet. And yes, you can show cleavage in a good way, as Oliva Wilde proves. And love Melissa McCarthy’s gown (her own design) and she’s lost a lot of weight. Doesn’t she look like England’s Princess Kate?

Old-School Glamour. Never goes wrong.  Here are a few fabs.

The Golden Globes Red Carpet Rocked!Who would have thunk it? Here’s Jennifer Lopez and Lady Gaga looking ever so elegant, and old school Hollywood. Love JLo’s cape, and Lady Gaga’s velvet Versace with architectural details is beautiful.  She’s come a long way from the meat dress. And Laverne Cox is a vision in this knockout classic white gown.

Always Classy. Class and grace never go out of style.

The Golden Globes Red Carpet Rocked!Dame Helen Mirren is always a class act. Jaimie Lee Curtis looks terrific in dark blue.  And we love how Julia Louise-Dreyfus’s black lace gown is accessorized with blue.

The Unusual and the Bold

The Golden Globes Red Carpet Rocked!Cate Blanchett is a vision in this 1920’s inspired couture gown. We love Olivia Palmero’s bold geometric cocktail dress with pockets too, but felt it was a little too casual for the red carpet. And Jane Fonda would look great in a burlap bag, but we did think the top was a bit too much but we love that she goes out on a limb.
