Miami Life: Christmas Market, Massage Therapy, Hot Tub Movie, Rusty Pelican

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Yes, I know it’s still August, but this is exciting news. You don’t have to be in New York anymore to experience one of the gigantic Christmas markets.  Miami is getting a whopper size one on Lincoln Road. I don’t know why most of us often forget just how powerful a massage can be. Read my interview with Marcelo Holzinger, the owner of FitLife Bodywork & Massage, who is also a visual artist. I just heard that Miami Beach is getting a Hot Tub Party and Cinema. And The Rusty Pelican is celebrating its 50th birthday. That’s quite an accomplishment.

Lincoln Road Will Feature Massive Xmas Market

Urbanspace, the company that operates the biggest holiday markets in New York City has picked Lincoln Road, Miami as their next location.

Everyone in Miami who knows about the recent decision is thrilled. Lincoln Road is a great destination to enhance the holiday spirit. The new holiday pop up shops will be open from November 15th to February 15th.

I can’t think of anything better for the Miami economy. Let’s get everyone shopping in real life as opposed to online. Lincoln Road is an outdoor mall so everyone will feel comfortable roaming around under the Miami sun. This whole idea is a “natural” for Miami Beach. I can’t wait to see the smiles on all the faces of shoppers. What a great way to end the year.

I was told that Urbanspace is hoping to have 100 local and out-of-state vendors participate in this first venture. That means all kinds of goodies will be sold including home goods, children’s toys and apparel, stationery, books and prints, men’s and women’s apparel and accessories, jewelry, kitchen and garden items and food and drinks.

Potential vendors should apply at https://www.urbanspacenyc.com/lincolnrd.

MARKET DATES:
November 15th – February 15th

HOURS:
Daily 11am – 9 pm

LOCATION:
805 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL 33139

Forget The Pills, The Alcohol, The Weed

You just need the proper touch. I don’t know why most of us often forget just how powerful a massage can be. Instead of grabbing for the bottle when we find ourselves under terrible stress, we should get the appropriate massage that can provide the best type of relaxation for our body and mind. I recently spoke to Marcelo Holzinger, the owner of FitLife Bodywork & Massage in Miami because I wanted to explore this topic more. Get the details.

Watch A Movie In a Hot Tub

I can’t wait to see this. It sounds crazy to me but apparently this is all part of the growing outdoor movie trend. I have to admit, Miami Beach is the ideal place to try out a zany new outdoor movie idea. The basic premise is that you sit in a warm inflatable pool that filled with three feet of water while watching a movie. A few others, friends or strangers, are in the pool with you.

I can’t believe this is going to work so I will be watching this new concept closely. Right now, this is a pop up idea. Whoever thought of it certainly picked the right place to start. It’s slated to be atop the 1111 Lincoln Road parking garage. The structure has stunning panoramic views of the city. A rooftop lounge is being built as well where food and drinks will be sold. Twenty inflatable hot tubs are being installed now with LED lights for added excitement. Each pool will accommodate six people.

What a way to meet new people and see a great flick. I will report Miami’s response to this wild idea. I don’t think you will be seeing too many senior adults in the tubs but who knows. This may be the way to soak your aches and pains away.

The Rusty Pelican is 50 Years Old

Happy Birthday to the Rusty Pelican. That’s quite an accomplishment for a restaurant. Many restaurants around the world can’t survive five years. The waterfront restaurant in Key Biscayne opened in 1972.  The Rusty Pelican will be offering a special throwback menu in honor of the very first dishes served, including teriyaki glazed sirloin and chicken kona kai, which will be priced at $19.72. All proceeds from the menu will benefit the Overtown Youth Center.

The City of Miami also designated August 26 as Rusty Pelican Day. This is also the precise day owner John Tallichet, whose father, David, founded the Pelican. The restaurant will be saluting its longtime employees with a luncheon dedicated to them. Best wishes for another 50 years. Get details about the restaurant.
