A Polished, Put Together, Classy Makeover

Katherine came to The Makeover Studio at 66 with a clear intention: she wanted to finally understand what truly worked for her. Her lifestyle had shifted, and she no longer felt like she was presenting her best self. She wanted a hairstyle that was easier to manage, makeup she could recreate at home, and a step‑by‑step approach she could follow with confidence.

She also arrived with strong preferences. She wanted to remain blonde. She didn’t want hair falling into her face. She preferred a length that was neither too short nor too long. And when it came to makeup, she leaned toward a natural look and ultimately chose not to wear lipstick. At the same time, we could see additional possibilities—options that could enhance her features, coloring, and proportions without compromising her comfort.

That balance is the heart of personalized transformation. Professional guidance isn’t about taking away someone’s choices. It’s about offering possibilities, explaining why certain choices work beautifully, and allowing the woman in the chair to decide what feels like her. With Katherine, we honored her boundaries while offering thoughtful recommendations, creating a look she felt proud to wear home.

Her biggest “aha” moment came from the details—especially her eyebrows, which reshaped and lifted her entire expression. Her new haircut gave her the ease she had been craving: a style that naturally fell back into place without hours of styling. She wanted something she could live with, and by the end, she felt polished, put together, and classy.

To us, that’s what personalized transformation means. Not making everyone look the same. Not forcing a trend. But educating, guiding, listening, and creating the best possible version of the look that feels right for the woman wearing it. Because ultimately, it’s hers. And if she’s happy when she looks in the mirror, that’s what matters.

Meet Christopher Hopkins – The Makeover Guy. “The makeover: It absolutely inspires me. Improvement and response. Thrilling. At three years old I was obsessed with the hair of my “Tootie” doll. This miniature doll, packaged in a plastic cameo, had a tiny body and very long hair. It was perfect for little hands to hold and style. I spent hours on that thing, bobby pins everywhere. Later I graduated to my sister’s Barbie dolls. You could do more with clothing for them because they had full figures for which you could create tissue paper and Scotch tape fashions, complete with stickpin earrings.”

Today Christopher is owner of reVamp! salonspa, in Minneapolis. He done makeovers on the “Oprah Winfrey Show” among other media outlets. His first book, “Staging Your Comeback, A Complete Beauty Revival for Women Over 45,” has helped improve the looks and the lives of thousands of women.
