The cast and creatives of the upcoming new musical HARMONY were ready, willing and more than able, at Open Jar Studios, to show what they can do and what we can expect at the Barrymore Theatre on Broadway. Oodles of talent appear on stage. From my prospective, it’s stunning! Previews begin October 18 ahead of an opening night on November 13.
Harmony features an original new score by legendary Tony, Grammy and Emmy Award winner Barry Manilow with lyrics and book by Drama Desk Award Winner Bruce Sussman. It is directed and choreographed by Tony Award Winner Warren Carlyle. This is a timely and captivating rags-to-riches story lost to history that comes to life with a cast of Broadway favorites: Chip Zien, Sierra Boggess, Julie Benko, the Comedian Harmonists (Sean Bell, Danny Kornfeld, Zal Owen, Eric Peters, Blake Roman and Steven Telsey. Allison Semmes plays Josephine Baker and Andrew O’Shanick the role of Standartenfuhrer.
This is an important and emotionally moving piece of history that we all must remember so the horror of that era never repeats but it’s sprinkled with humor, has great storytelling and unstoppable talent.

Twenty five years ago I was given a tape of this show by one of the then producers trying the bring Harmony to Broadway. Congratulations to Barry Manilow for not giving up and seeing his project finally hit the boards.
