Oct. 30. Enemies of the People at United Solo
Enemies of the People is a haunting and deeply personal one-woman show adapted from the powerful memoir by Peabody Award-winning journalist and author Kati Marton. Set in post-war Hungary, the play follows Kati’s journey as she uncovers the long-buried story of her parents—Ilona and Endre—renowned journalists who endured and resisted two oppressive regimes. As Kati sifts through state files and family memories, a portrait of love, betrayal, resilience, and quiet defiance emerges.
Starring acclaimed Hungarian actress Erika Marozsán, the piece was adapted especially for her by the award-winning Mohácsi brothers and directed by János Mohácsi. Accompanied by a mesmerizing original score composed by Márton Kovács and Ádám Móser, the production blends personal narrative with political history in a vivid, emotionally charged performance. Roving in the Galleries
Nicole Freezer Rubens writes:
Shucks & Aww, the current Urs Fischer exhibit at the pristine Salon 94 gallery, is a show to be seen. In this body of work, the eccentric artist focuses on design. The glorious mansion in the Museum Mile section of Carnegie Hill is the perfect contrasting backdrop for these untraditional works and the beautiful building is an architectural show in and of itself. Even if you know nothing about art, seeing this body of work is visually entertaining and offers astute commentary. Shock value is concrete alongside simple art and even cute.
From the gallery’s description “Fischer has a knack for presenting and re-presenting the mundane until it becomes the extra-ordinary, for showing us how to approach the commonplace with fresh eyes and an open mind.”
This is an exhibit that can be seen on multiple levels offering many refreshing takeaways the viewer wants to find. Salon 94 is located at 3 East 89th Street. Shucks & Aww can be enjoyed through December 20, 2025. It’s a great escape that leaves you amused, in awe and certainly thinking.
Divine Egypt: A Landmark Exhibition at The Met
From October 21, 2025 through January 19, 2026, The Metropolitan Museum of Art presents “Divine Egypt”—its first major exhibition of Egyptian art in over a decade. This extraordinary showcase brings together more than 200 works spanning 3,000 years of history, illuminating the profound relationship between art, ritual, and divinity in ancient Egyptian culture.
Visitors will encounter rare masterpieces from The Met’s own collection alongside international loans, including temple reliefs, gilded coffins, and statuary that once stood in sacred spaces. The exhibition explores how visual storytelling shaped spiritual life—from the cosmic myths of creation to the intimate rituals of daily devotion.
“Divine Egypt” is more than an exhibition—it’s a journey into the heart of a civilization where gods were ever-present, and beauty was a form of worship. Whether you’re a lifelong Egyptophile or newly curious, this is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to experience the sacred splendor of ancient Egypt through the eyes of its artists and believers. She is the author of the novel, "Can You See Us Now?" and co-author of a humorous books of quips, "Martini Wisdom." Because she's lived a long time, her full bio won't fit here.
