I am happily back from my summer break and so… “Hello Tomatoes!” A plethora of cool “Summer Night” events are happening across town.  Our LA Stylist, Felicia Arlin, is not just talking about fashion this week and our poetess Lady Penelope has the beach on her mind. Moi, your Tomato TV Addict has a few TV picks for you to peruse.  “The Aquarium of the Pacific has… “BABIES”! You can shop till you drop at top LA Flea Markets. And you can enjoy “Art Deco Elegance” from home, Tomatoes. Phew! There you have it.

July 21-August 25.  Sunset Concerts

It’s hard to believe that the Skirball has been offering the “Sunset Concert Series” to the public for free for 25 years.  A Tomato can enjoy the showcase of great eclectic music from established and new artists from Los Angeles and beyond in a dreamy hillside setting that is to die for. Sounds so luverly.

Arrive early to eat, drink, shop, and enjoy complimentary access to the exhibitions! Concerts are free but parking is not, so keep that in mind. But it’s a small price to pay for such an event.  Don’t forget to sing and dance along Ladies!

LA Style Stories

LA stylist and native, Felicia Arlin, is a firm believer that we all should keep challenging ourselves while maintaining our sense of humor. Felicia defied the odds and surfed. Yep! That’s right! You’ll be amazed by Felicia in her story: “Never too Old”. And in “Blinded by the Bright”, Felicia extolls the beauty of bringing light, dark and bright colors together to make a fab and cool summer look.  I love bright and I love her Pro-Tip this week! Sonnets from Suburbia

Lady Penelope is at the beach but she’s a little crabby and of course, she has a few complaints. Why am I not surprised? WATCH THE VIDEO.

July 20 SummerTini Time

After 3 years, the “Taste of Summer Every Third Wednesday” events are back and it’s “SummerTini Time” in the charming Culver City neighborhood once again.  Enjoying refreshing and tasty martini samples (virgin samples available too) as you stroll is the perfect way to wind down after a hot busy day, Tomatoes.

And the martini samples (virgin samples available) are free. Wow! Don’t forget to vote for your fav martini. While you’re there, enjoy treats, tours, ticket giveaways and live music throughout along the beautiful tree-lined streets. It’s also a great chance for Tomatoes to explore this area’s rich history with one-of-a-kind restaurants, boutiques, bars, theatres and galleries.  It is one of LAs best kept secrets and it’s time to let it out of the bag. That’s your cue Tomatoes.

Through April ’23. Babies Exhibit

The Aquarium of the Pacific is always a fantastic experience but now it is even more fab with their brand-new exhibit “Babies”. All you have to say is baby animals and I’m there in a heartbeat, Tomatoes. In this heart-warming exhibit you’ll meet the newest cutest members of the Aquarium family and discover how they hold the key to our future. The children are always our hope for the future.

Rescued sea otters, mesmerizing cuttlefish, and miniature sea jellies to tiny translucent fish and a young desert tortoise will fill you with joy and the new exhibits highlight the Aquarium’s breeding programs and how they help us minimize our environmental impact and contribute to important ocean conservation efforts. You’ll also learn about the endangered animal babies that live at the Aquarium receiving special care to help rebuild their wild populations. That makes my heart sing, Tomatoes.

The Best LA Flea Markets

I recently found a fantastic list of the “Coolest Flea Markets” around LA from DoLA.  Got to give credit where credit is due. Flea Markets are oh so popular in LA and they are filled with treasures just waiting for you to find. Keep this list safe and at the ready for when you are in the mood to shop till you drop, Ladies. Tee Hee!

July 17. Art Deco Elegance

Let film and fashion historian Kimberly Truhler help you escape this month into “Art Deco Elegance” with the next in her History of Fashion in Film series. Kimberly will celebrate the costume designers of the 1930s and the stars they helped create – Marlene Dietrich, Joan Crawford, Kay Francis, Jean Harlow, Claudette Colbert, and Ginger Rogers. You gotta love the elegant style of the ‘30’s, Tomatoes.
