The Golden Hour
In Hollywood, Golden or Magic Hour, is the very short window of time, less than an hour, during which the sun is just setting or just rising. It’s the time of day to capture those golden hues of warm defused light that result in the most exquisite shots. I was lucky enough to catch it on the way to a cocktail party in a look that’s bold and light reflective. When styling a bold look, the result should be balanced and fluid.
There are many things to consider one being colour…I’m using off-white black with a touch of gold metallic. This particular combination has an elegant retro feel that I find especially beautiful and a little unexpected. I’m starting with these high-waist trousers, Zara. They’re very long and full and have beautiful movement and they consume most of my body but that’s all part of the drama. In contrast, my vintage sequin bolero is short, static, and exposes some skin. It not only brings the sparkle it’s the perfect shape to stand up to my pants. My chunky vintage statement necklace provides the perfect amount of coverage and along with my earrings are consistent with my colour story. To complete my look I’m going with a, simple, pair of high black sandals, Sam Edelman, because I don’t want to create a distraction to the fluidity of my trousers and my small woven silk evening bag, Barneys NY, brings a bit of shine and a little, liquid gold, from the long chain.
Style-tip: putting an impactful look together with only a few pieces requires good planning, a good sense of balance, and a very tight colour story
