Style Story: Express Yourself

When it comes to, style, I believe we’re born with it. I think of it as the way we take in and process the things around us then express them through, for lack of a better word, lifestyle. The way we dress, the way we organize or decorate the space around us, etc. For me, it’s as individual as our fingerprints. Fashion, Trend, and, Season may dictate the tone but from there it’s up for our own interpretation and that is the definition of, personal style. It’s what has made my work in fashion as a designer and as a stylist so interesting. If you’ve  cultivated your personal style the, through line, is authentic and consistent. Think about when a friend says, “I just saw the perfect (blank) for you”. My personal style has been consistent since I was a child. I was never into, outfits, rather items to make, looks. I never liked to wear the same things in the same way as my friends and to this day I still only buy items that I love and that works with what I already own like these Marine blue patent leather leggings, Spanx.

The unexpected colour makes them interesting, versatile and a great option to denim but still denim friendly. I’ve styled them very casually with a red/white/blue check button-down shirt, Tronjori on Amazon, (Boys department), layered under a light weight Navy ribbed long sleeve top, Zara. My very flat black suit jacket, Calvin Klein, pulls all of my pieces together by neutralizing the high shine, the textured fabrics and multiple layers and lengths. The slightly structured silhouette also gives my body the illusion of length. To finish off my elevated casual I went with my, Adidas, a crossbody fanny pack, Shein, and my Ray-Bans.

style-tip: if you don’t recognize your through line in something you put on…TAKE IT OFF.

Style Story: Hollywood Nights

This wimpy LA girl hates the cold which makes getting dressed to do ANYTHING at night pretty undesirable no matter how great the party. With that said, I made it easy on myself going from day to evening with my Marine Blue patent leather leggings, Spanx. I took my crisp white shirtdress, Macys, and criss crossed the placket and tucked into the back of my leggings to form a point. It adds a little architectural interest in the back and looks a bit like tuxedo tails. I’m keeping the shirt unbuttoned and, rough cuffed, the sleeves.

The dressiness comes with my high rhinestone heels, Steve Madden, vintage  pave’ earrings, beaded beanie, Amazon, and vintage liquid metal handbag, Whiting & Davis, all in silver. Because my accessories are all distinct sparkling statement pieces I don’t feel the need to add a necklace… I find the bareness to be a lot more sexy. As you can see I’m party ready in a look that was so easy to pull together. I’ve got enough coverage and exposure for a Hollywood night in those Hollywood hills.

style-tip: an elevated evening look can come from a few easy pieces a little creativity and some great accessories

*please treat your wardrobe well many people worked very hard to get it to you
