SF LIFE: Virtual Napa & Park Tours, Healthy Snacks, Motivation, Happy Hour
Hello Tomatoes – here I am with no events to tell you about, but a lot of goodness to be shared through technology. I don’t know about you, but I am hardly bored. I have books and writing, mandalas to color, friends to zoom with and there are not enough hours in the day to watch all of the wonderful things that people are sharing online. Concerts, lectures, classes and meditation. And then there are the endless exercise videos. We can do anything from the comfort of our own homes – and that is something to be grateful for during out lock down. See some suggestions below for online learning and watching!
Oh and I’ve been doing some online motivation minute videos and I’ve posted a couple of them for your amusement. And this week’s Happy Hour Podcast is must listen, with my guest Jan Correll, “Silver is the New Blonde,” who has 65,000 Instagram followers. Stay safe.
Anyone out there think you are too old for social media like Instagram? Today’s fabulous podcast guest, Jan Correll, begs to differ. Kim Selby, our SF Editor spoke with Jan, whose intriguing brand is “Silver is the new Blonde.” Jan began her Instagram presence three years ago and now has over 65 thousand followers. Listen in as we find out how she was selected by the New York Times as one of the “Glamorous Grandmas of Instagram!” Listen in here.
Virtual Napa Valley
Wouldn’t it be fantastic if you could have a little taste of Napa Valley at home? Good news: Napa Valley wineries are bringing the tasting to you with virtual experiences starting this week! The Napa Valley Blog is compiling them all here, so check back often to see if your favorite wineries are participating as new experiences will be continually added. And of course, you can still order wine and have it shipped!
Digital Walking Tours of Our Parks
While many of our parks are closed, you can virtually walk through them with guided video tours. Listen to a slice of life at Fort Point in the post Civil War days. An unidentified private tells about his day.
Point Bonita is a historical site on the edge, where the land meets the water, and where San Francisco Bay meets the Pacific Ocean.
Lands End Lookout This new 4,150-square-foot visitor center above the ruins of the Sutro Baths opened in May 2012. Learn about the natural and cultural history of the area, and hike the nearby trails along the coast and up into the nearby Sutro Heights gardens.
