A Tequila a Day Keeps the Doctor Away?
If shots of tequila take you back to your wild and crazy days, maybe it’s time to get a little tequila crazy again. There’s actually some research that tequila may have real health benefits. It’s made from the blue agave that comes from Tequila, Mexico. Health benefits sited include stimulating the immune system, fighting obesity (so far in mice), cutting the risk of dementia and lowering blood pressure. And if even it doesn’t have any medicinal benefits, you’ll love this very simple margarita recipe and salsa made with tequila.
- 3oz. of Jenni Rivera La Gran Señora Tequila Blanco
- Simple Syrup (1/3 cup sugar and 1/3 cup water)
- 1 oz. Fresh Lime Juice
- 2 oz. of Triple Sec
- 1 Jalapeño, cut in half lengthwise
Put 1/3 cup of sugar and 1/3 cup of water in a saucepan to boil, stir occasionally to dissolve sugar. After the simple syrup cools combine it with 3 ounces of Jenni Rivera La Gran Señora Tequila Blanco, 1 ounce Fresh Lime Juice, 2 ounces of Triple Sec and 1 Jalapeño, cut in half lengthwise. Let the mix chill for 30 minutes- 3 hours. Be sure to taste it until it’s spiced to your preference.
Once ready to serve, remove the jalapeno and serve with ice in a glass and garnish with sliced cucumber.
Salsa Tequilera
- 5 small tomatoes on the vine
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 2 jalapenos
- 1 red potato
- ¼ onion
- 1.5 oz. of Jenni Rivera La Gran Señora Tequila Blanco
- Oregano
- Salt
- Cilantro
Chop 5 small tomatoes, 2 jalapenos, 2 cloves of garlic, 1 red potato and a ¼ cup of onion. Place the chopped ingredients into a blender and add a pinch of oregano and salt. Add 1.5 oz. or your preferred amount of Jenni Rivera La Gran Señora Tequila Blanco into the mixture. Blend until texture is slightly smooth. Once ready to serve, place the Salsa Tequilera into a bowl and garnish with cilantro.
