Three Binge Worthy TV Shows

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Here are three shows we have binging…. Daisy Jones and the Six will take you back to the 60s and 70s. Not Dead Yet, is a very funny series that proves that network TV is not dead yet. And Shrinking on Apple + TV will make you fall in love with the still very sexy Harrison Ford, all over again.

Daisy Jones and the Six

I can’t tell you how much I love this series on Amazon Prime. The series is  based on a bestselling book inspired by Fleet Mac. You’ll be transported to the 60s and 70s with great music of that era, and the clothes of that era too. The story line follows the progression of a rock band as they rise from obscurity to superstardom, when they add a singer/song writer, Daisy to the group. Daisy is wonderfully portrayed by Riley Keogh (the beautiful and talented granddaughter of Elvis Presley) and she can sing! The entire cast is terrific, especially Sam Claflin who plays the role of the very sexy, very intense Billy Dunne, the leader of the band.

By 1977 Daisy Jones & The Six were on top of the world; and then, after a sold-out show at Chicago’s Soldier Field, they called it quits; now, decades later, the band members agree to reveal the truth. The story goes back and forth following the band, and then features interviews with the original band members, each telling their side of the story, in a way that almost makes it feel like a documentary. And we love the band and the original music in this can’t watch mini-series. We’re waiting for the final two episodes to drop and will miss it when we’re finished.

Not Dead Yet

This very clever comedy shows there’s still life on network TV. In this ABC series (which you can also stream on Hulu), Nell Serrano (Gina Rodriquez) a broke and newly single self-described disaster, works to restart the life and career she left behind 10 years ago; when she lands the only job she can find — writing obituaries, she starts getting life advice from an unlikely source—the recently departed.

In each episode, the recently departed person whose obit she is writing, appears in the episode….each brings her a lesson and they only leave to whatever their final place is, when she finishes the obit. The show is a clever, well written comedy with a terrific cast, and Rodriquez is especially engaging.  It’s a fun half hour of entertainment, and don’t we call need that every once in a while?

Shrinking

OMG. You will fall in love with Harrison Ford all over again in this Apple + TV comedy/drama series. Harrison Ford is a psychologist with a practice that includes two other therapists. He has also been recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s. Jimmy, played by the wonderful Jason Segal, who is grieving after the loss of his wife, starts to break the rules by telling his clients exactly what he thinks. The third therapist, Gaby, played by Jessica Williams, is recently divorced and still struggling with that. It’s a smart, clever, witty, series, with a great cast of characters.
