Spotlight on Long Island: Book Clubs at Wineries

“Sips and Stories — Book Clubs with a Buzz”

Let’s be honest — there’s something magical about a glass of wine and a good story. Add a few fabulous women, a vineyard breeze, and a shared love of great characters (real or fictional), and you’ve got a book club worth RSVPing to early. Welcome to the latest Long Island trend that blends the joy of reading with the joy of relaxing: book clubs at wineries. These gatherings are not your quiet, living-room, finger-sandwich kind of clubs. These are vibrant, laughter-filled meetups where Pinot meets plot twist, and prose pairs beautifully with a cheese board. And if you “didn’t finish the book”? Don’t worry — you can still come for the sip and stay for the story.

 Del Vino Vineyards – Northport

Nestled on a hilltop just minutes from downtown Northport, Del Vino brings a European flair to Long Island’s wine scene. Their monthly book nights — often held under string lights on the patio — spotlight page-turners by women authors and thought-provoking discussion questions led by local moderators. It’s the kind of evening where you show up for the wine but stay for the warmth and camaraderie. Bonus: their meat and cheese boards are as thoughtfully arranged as any bestseller’s plot.  delvinovineyards.com

Harmony Vineyards – Head of the Harbor

This charming waterfront vineyard offers more than just stunning views of Stony Brook Harbor — it offers a chance to sip and chat with soul. Their “Wine & Words” series blends live jazz, engaging fiction, and the kind of cozy, candlelit atmosphere that makes you feel like you’re inside the pages of a novel. Grab a glass of their signature red, lean back in an Adirondack chair, and let the stories unfold. Literary serenity with a splash of rhythm.  harmonyvineyards.com

Pindar Vineyards – Peconic

One of the North Fork’s largest and most iconic wineries, Pindar isn’t just for tastings — it’s a hub for community events, including their popular “Books and Bottles” club in partnership with local libraries. Each month, readers gather in the barrel room or beneath the grapevines to discuss novels that range from beach reads to historical sagas. Don’t miss their pairing recommendations — a chilled rosé for summer romances or bold cabernet for gripping mysteries.  pindar.net

Fire Island Vines – Bay Shore

Located in the heart of downtown Bay Shore, Fire Island Vines offers a warm, welcoming twist on the traditional winery experience. Every last Wednesday of the month, they host their popular “Words on the Vine” book club — a relaxed and friendly gathering where guests sip wine, enjoy light bites, and dive into thoughtful discussions about the book of the month. With cozy indoor lounges and vine-draped patios, the setting is as charming as the company. Whether you’ve read every word or just came for the rosé and conversation, you’ll feel right at home. Upcoming events sometimes feature local authors or themed food pairings, and their occasional “Books & Bites” evenings add even more flavor to this literary escape. It’s the perfect midweek outing for anyone who loves stories — in a glass or on a page.  fireislandvines.com

For many of us, a book club is more than a social outing — it’s a lifeline to friendship, conversation, and discovery. And when the setting is a lush vineyard instead of a dusty library basement? Even better.

So, whether you’re a literary lioness or someone who reads the first 30 pages and wings the rest, there’s a place for you at these tables. Bring your book, bring your besties, or just bring yourself — and get ready to turn the page on your next great adventure.
