Sonnets from Suburbia: Nailed It!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Nailed It!

I long to “crush it” as the young folks say;

Or “nail it”, “kill it”, perfection achieve.

Why is the merest effort on display

declared “so awesome”, I cannot conceive.

If just one thing I did was “off the charts”,

considered truly brilliant by my peers

with not a single critic throwing darts

‘t would be the highlight of my many years.

Seems showing up will earn a hearty kudo

as if truthful assessments are too rough.

None think excessive praise is really pseudo.

A pinch of honesty is not enough.

Don’t tell a soul I’ve bucked this trend and mocked it.

I’d sell my soul if someone said, “You rocked it!”
