Sonnets from Suburbia: Algorithms

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Lady Penelope doth ponder the effect of algorithms on friendships as only Lady Penelope can. And don’t forget to pick up her brilliant newly released book, “Sonnets from Suburbia: More Candles Than Cake”.

Algorithms

While algorithms keep us far apart,

or so that’s the excuse you tend to use,

take comfort that I know what’s in your heart

and am convinced that you would not abuse;

Abuse me with your absence, treatment cold,

ignoring please for contact from your friend.

You are so very busy, so I’m told,

or p’rhaps you’ve gone completely round the bend.

I then made a mistake and checked your page,

the one where all your fans, not friends can visit,

and so discovered you were all the rage

on tour in Paris or Kabul, which is it?

Not sure why it’s been ions since we spoke.

Not Facebook’s fault our algorithm broke.
