Sonnet: Forgot to Vote??

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Lady Penelope means business when it comes to voting and she doth scorns the apathetic citizen in her sonnet “Forgot to Vote??”. Me thinks Tomatoes might thoroughly enjoy following Lady P’s “Sonnets from Suburbia” on social media.

If you forgot to vote and do complain

‘Bout harsh realities that now exist,

Blame no one else, o’ let me make it plain

Your caterwauling – please cease and desist.

Amazing you can still hold up your head

And claim you are a patriotic soul,

Ignoring civic duties while instead

You never miss your weekly night to bowl.

When apathy’s replaced by righteous ire,

Dear friend, it’s not so righteous, trust me here.

Democracy burns on a fun’ral pyre

If you won’t vote, yet cry into your beer.

O’ please reverse this pattern of neglect

To have some leaders whom we’d all respect.
