Oscar Moments

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

There were so many awards shows this year crammed into the last couple of months, that the Oscars seemed like an afterthought, rather than the pinnacle. Was it any surprise that Oppenheimer took home the lions share of the awards? And nothing could have topped this year’s Grammy Awards, but this year’s Oscar show had its moments. Jimmy Kimmel was an affable host and we liked that the presentations for the actors’ awards were given out by past winners who each talked about the actor who was nominated.  A nice touch.   Here were our three favorite moments, plus our favorite gowns of the evening too.

Favorite Moment #1. I’m just Ken.

How can you not love Ryan Gosling. The guy is adorable, and we loved how the Barbie cast had so much with his performance.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph was Divine!

We loved her performance in The Holdovers and her very moving acceptance piece. And she also pulled off that blue gown with the puff sleeves amazingly well!

Emma Stone was the surprise winner.

She wasn’t expected to win, but there you go. She is always a joy to watch and she handled her dress malfunction really well too.

Our favorite gowns of the evening.

There were some very elegant and classic choices. Since all these actresses have stylists and every designer wanting to dress them, there are fewer bad choices or outlandish gowns. Here were a few of our favorites.

Da'Vine Joy Randolph

Jennifer Lawrence

Jamie Lee Curtis

Cary Mulligan

Rita Moreno

Margot Robbie

Emma Stone

Lupita Nyong'o

America Ferrera

Anya Taylor-Joy

Melissa McCarthy
