Insider Tour of Printemps and Lunch at Fraunces Tavern
Last Sunday, our NYC Insider’s Club stepped into two worlds: the dazzling new Printemps store, where rose quartz staircases and champagne lounges channel Parisian chic inside the landmark One Wall Street, and the storied Fraunces Tavern, where George Washington once raised a glass in the Long Room. From AI-generated murals to colonial cannonball scars, it was a day of high style and deep history—with plenty of photo ops and pot pie to prove it. READ ON,

Roving with the Marathoners
Our roving photographer Nicole Freezer Rubens writes:
With all the change New York City will be going through, I am focusing on the integral winning spirit of our fair city. On the tails of Halloween the 5 boroughs hosted the 54th Marathon on the first Sunday in November. The weather was spectacular for the 59,226 finishers and almost 2 million spectators. Many records were set, including the women’s time, the number of runners, and the most interesting being the 0.03 second difference between the men’s first and second place photo finish feat!
The race began in 1970 with a $1 entry fee, and 127 runners looping around Central Park. In 1976 to honor the US bicentennial, the race spread to cover Staten Island, Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and the Bronx, ending where it all began in our glorious Central Park. The only times the marathon was cancelled were in 2012 after Hurricane Sandy and in 2020 during Covid.
Traditionally, I walk across my street to First Avenue to cheer on the runners at mile 17. Without fail the crowds are almost as inspiring as the athletes. As one we stand rooting for the success of friends and strangers alike, because victory lifts us all up and reminds us what mankind can accomplish. The mood feeds us as a city, witnessing that success is possible, with devotion, commitment, hard work, follow through and banding together in unity.
Marathon Sunday is one of the most inspiring days in New York City. The enthusiasm permeates the crisp fall air. Merely stepping outside into the crowd feels like we are indeed a community and is an awesome way to come together in a city that is often so far apart.

The tomato behind The Three Tomatoes.
Cheryl Benton, aka the “head tomato” is founder and publisher of The Three Tomatoes, a digital lifestyle magazine for “women who aren’t kids”. Having lived and worked for many years in New York City, the land of size zero twenty-somethings, she was truly starting to feel like an invisible woman. She created The Three Tomatoes just for the fun of it as the antidote for invisibility and sent it to 60 friends. Today she has thousands of friends and is chief cheerleader for smart, savvy women who want to live their lives fully at every age and every stage. She is the author of the novel, "Can You See Us Now?" and co-author of a humorous books of quips, "Martini Wisdom." Because she's lived a long time, her full bio won't fit here.
