It’s time again for the LA County Holiday Show which is one of LA’s longest running traditions. The Getty Center is already magical but when they adorn their landscape with holiday lights and timely exhibits the museum becomes dazzling with the spirit of the season. For the month of December Descanso Gardens is hosting docent led walks every Saturday morning. Me thinks the post-holiday diet might just have to wait till AFTER you indulge at “Indulge LA” the LA Chocolate Festival and Pastry Show.

Dec. 24.  LA County Holiday Show

LA Life: Boxing Day, Indulge, Illumination, Gifting a Concert, holiday celebFor 56 years the board of LA County supervisors have hosted this multi-cultural and multi-generational 3-hour concert, produced by The Los Angeles County Arts Commission and PBS SoCal, with a plethora of varied multi=talented performances.  There are a lot of Tomatoes this year involved in this awesome holiday concert extravaganza. Did I mention it is free?

Mariachi Reyna de Los Anegels is a 12-member, all-female, Grammy-nominated mariachi orchestra, Inverting Dance Theatre is run by Tomato Laura Karlin and Tomato Barbara Allen is the founder/artistic director of the Salvation Army Tabernacle Children’s Chorus – an audience favorite. Those are just a few of the fab tomatoes participating in The 56th Annual L.A. County Holiday Celebration.  If you can’t make it in person, then you can catch it on PBS SoCal ladies. Dec. 19-Jan. 2. Art and Lights at Getty Center

LA Life: Boxing Day, Indulge, Illumination, Gifting a ConcertStarting tomorrow December 19th, Illumination is the name of the game on Saturday evenings until 9pm when the Getty Center comes alive at twilight with festive holiday lights galore. Sparkling lights fill all the trees and there are giant snowflakes floating around.  The twinkle and twinkling is made even more enjoyable with complimentary apple cider and special art exhibits that are perfect for this time of year.

The new “Woven Gold” exhibition that features the Tapestries of Louis XIV might catch your fancy tomatoes.  The parking is also discounted which is another perk ladies. Get the details.

December Walks

LA Life: Boxing Day, Indulge, Illumination, Gifting a ConcertGorgeous Descanso Gardens, every Saturday in December is hosting a docent led walk through their magnificent terrain to discover the delights of nature this time of year. What a great way, tomatoes, to find solace and leave behind the stress, the pressure and all the hustle and bustle upon us. It’s a valuable reminder that the ever changing world of nature doesn’t stop for the holiday season. Just sayin’ gals.

 Dec. 27. Chocolate Festival and Pastry Show

LA Life: Boxing Day, Indulge, Illumination, Gifting a ConcertIf the mere thought of a chocolate and pastry show with champagne and wine sends you in to a tizzy then you might want to ask for the smelling salts because you don’t miss out on this decadent, sumptuous, delectable experience. Only the very best chocolatiers, Pastry Chefs and Confectioners will be at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza to indulge your senses ladies. There is always New Years Day to swear off sweets tomatoes.
