Broadway Meets Soul

Broadway Meets Soul

Imagine taking two music genres and combining them to create a powerful sound. Broadway veteran Kyle Taylor Parker, known for starring in Kinky Boots, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Smoky Joe’s Cafe, and Jesus Christ Superstar on tv, has done just that. Kyle has blended his two loves, musical theatre and soul, and performs some incredible arrangements on his second album, Broadway Soul, Vol. 2, a follow up to his first collection. But it’s much more than an aggregation of songs. It is a concept album with a story associated with the carefully chosen anthology. (Read the story in the liner notes.) Broadway Soul Vol. 2

Kyle’s smooth voice is supreme, and there are other Broadway performers who join him on his latest effort.

Funded through a successful Kickstarter campaign, and produced virtually during the pandemic, Kyle followed his desire to keep making music, and found that recording in his closet worked very well! (As many recording and voice-over artists have discovered this past year.)

Broadway Meets Soul

You can hear my conversation with Kyle on this Sunday’s “Bagels and Broadway” radio show on WNYM from 2-3 pm ET. Podcast available following the broadcast here.
