Best of the Grammys 2024

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

It’s award show season, and up until Sunday night the awards shows have been one big bore. But the Grammys showed that awards shows can be entertaining, engaging, and inspiring. Memo to the Oscars: Take a cue from the Grammys!

First, it was the year of the female performers, with the vast majority of nominations going to the ladies!!! Trevor Noah proved to be an engaging host, kept everything moving, and upbeat! No side comments dishing the celebrities in the room. And the speeches stuck to what the show was about, the awards and the performances. There were so many special moments, but if you missed the show, here were a few of our very favorite moments and the video highlights.

Miley Cyrus looked amazingly fierce, beautiful, and buff (check out those arms) when she sang her award-winning Flowers…the new female empowerment anthem.

Fantasia Barrino’s tribute to Tina Turner with Proud Mary performance was extraordinary, as was Oprah’s intro.

Billy Joel performed his first new song in 30 years, “Turn the Lights Back on” which is now right up there with his best songs ever. I guarantee you won’t be able to stop listening to it.

Joni Mitchell’s comeback performance after an aneurysm, and learning how to walk, talk and sing again, is inspiring! And all the young female singers stand on her shoulders.

And then there was the wonderful and emotional appearance by Celine Dion who has been dealing with serious health issues. She gave out the award for best album to Taylor Swift, who became the first person to ever win this honor 4 times.

The Red Carpet, which is usually our favorite part, did not disappoint, and for the most part the performers looked elegant and classy, although we were befuddled by Beyonce’s cowgirl look.  Loved Taylor Swift fabulous choice.

There were many other wonderful moments and performances which made for a terrific evening.
