Miami Life: Summertime Lovin’ and Fun

My Dear Three Tomatoes Family,

This July has been absolutely incredible here in beautiful South Beach, and especially busy with real estate transactions.  So my apologies for the delay of the July Newsletter. It has been quite difficult for me to put into words what these past months have brought to my heart. It all started with the Air & Sea Show over Miami Beach on Memorial Weekend. As I was working in my Thine Agency corporate office, I heard the rehearsals, and the Jets flying over. The sound was so incredible, so powerful. Then I watched the bombers and various fighter jets flying while I swam in the turquoise ocean.  So awesome to see them refuel in the sky, I simply admired the skills of these pilots. It was all so surreal and reminded me of an experience I had in Egypt at the Israeli border decades ago. Then July 4th came with celebrating America’s Independence, which was followed by the annual July 14th tanks and army parade at the Champ-Elysees in Paris.

While all these events were coalescing in my heart, real estate would send me a constant flow of people that were simply disgruntled, angry at the state of affairs in this country. We all have the right to voice our opinions so I would listen.  The theme was recurrent and coming from citizens and non citizens alike.

I had this experience in the past at the gorgeous French Consulate in Paris while getting my visa. For hours I would hear French citizens criticizing the US while applying for a visa to come to the US!  As a proponent of the Descartes philosophy, I really couldn’t understand their logic.

It reminded me of my journey to become an American Citizen that took 16 years. It was a painful process that brought many tears and heartaches. Yet I can tell you now that I fully understand the process. If you allow me this simple analogy, it’s like having children and raising them to become good humans. I never met a parent wishing that their children would hate them. Well it’s the same with the green card and naturalization process.

The country at large would like that its future citizens would love the country, you can disagree but you have to love it. Hating the country you want to be part of makes no sense either.

And to prove my point, I wanted to share with you the Naturalization Package the government gave me to become an American Citizen. Its rooted in love, generosity, learning about the American values and respecting the rules. It cost the tax payer money to get this very generous package to each participant , and I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity. Embrace it, and love it!
