Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale Arrives September 12—A Cinematic Farewell to a Beloved Era

Master storyteller Julian Fellowes, after the first introduction fifteen years ago, brings the grand finale of Downton Abbey to the big screen on Friday, September 12, 2025. And, as everyone is entitled to my opinion, I believe no one with a feeling heart or an eye for beauty will be disappointed.

The superb cast of familiar faces and characters you have grown to know will be on screen, along with a few new ones.

The production value created by Gareth Neame, Liz Trubridge, Director Simon Curtis, and the team is unsurpassed. Lucious sets, meticulously designed costumes, elegant table settings and majestic locations await the viewer, accompanied by breathtaking cinematography and a wonderful soundtrack you might just want to hear at a later date for your listening pleasure.

This is not a review, nor a critique. It is a heads up to mark your calendar to be the first to see this gorgeous film.  Upstairs, downstairs, outside or inside, from the days of yore to the transition forward, it’s all there for the taking and neatly tied up to deliver a well-deserved ending to the Grand Dame called Downton Abbey. I LOVED this film and hope you will too!

Looking forward to the movie. As of 2 months ago I had not even seen one episode. Your dear friend suggested we watch it. Well, I got hooked. Over a 2 week period I watched 50+ episodes and 2 movies. So yes, looking forward to movie #3. Oh, then she got me hooked in the Gilded Age.
