Free Movies & Museums; Egg Rolls & Egg Creams

One of our favorite summer pleasures in NYC is all the free outdoor movies (and a few indoor ones too.) Bryant Park opens its summer HBO film festival on June 18th with Psycho. Slashing under the stars - it doesn't get any better. And for museum lovers, one of the best events of the season is the Museum Mile Festival, NYC's biggest block party, coming up on Tuesday. And how many Tomatoes remember egg creams? Well you can get the real deal this Sunday at the Egg Rolls & Egg Creams Festival. And if you've got a yearning to be a media personality, check out Valerie Smaldone's latest course at the School of Visual Arts. And on a sad side note today, we were so sorry to hear that "I'll Have Another" won't be racing for the Triple Crown at Belmont, and is out of racing all together! No history tomorrow at the track. Read our event highlights below, and do check out our sidebar for new articles you may have missed that have been posted this week.

psychoThis summer. Free Movies. From Tribeca to Bryant Park, Wall Street to rooftops, you'll find free movie nights. Start with Psycho on June 18 at Bryant Park. Or head to the Elevated Acre on Water Street and see Martin Sheen in the new film, Stella Days. Or try a rooftop movie at Mad46 Rooftop lounge. We've got the scoop on free movies this summer.

Time Out says,"Experience culture clash at this Lower East Side block party, which celebrates the Chinese and Jewish communities who've called the neighborhood home. Sample delicious treats-including the goodies for which the fest was named-as you enjoy performances from the Joy of Klezmer ensemble, Cantor Eric Freeman (singing Jewish liturgical music) and Qi Shu Fang's Peking Opera. See demos on Jewish paper-cutting and Chinese calligraphy, and get lessons in both Mandarin and Yiddish. You can also tour the restored Eldridge Street Synagogue or attend a traditional tea ceremony with Chinatown martial artist Sifu Ken Lo." Get the details.
