Cashmere, Foie Gras, Meatloaf, and Giveaways

Next to being wrapped in the arms of some gorgeous hunk like George Clooney or Brad Pitt, the next best thing is being wrapped in cashmere. We've got some great picks today and some are on sale too! And if you're like us, you obsessively read the ingredients on food labels. But what about cosmetic and skin care product labels? And what should you be looking for anyway? Debra Duneier has some advice. And if these dreary winter days are wearing on you, bring some light inside with color.  Designer Cheryl Terrace has some suggestions to lighten up.

In the mood for foie gras? Don't miss Gael Greene's review of La Mangeoire. Now at the other end of the food spectrum, is there any better comfort food than meatloaf? You'll love this meatloaf recipe from the old Tavern on the Green, courtesy of Arthur Schwartz.  And we're giving away theater tickets to the revival of Ionescopade, "a musical vaudeville".  And if you haven't entered the Costa Rica spa giveaway contest, hurry....it ends this month.  Read on.

ionescopadeWin Tickets to Ionescopade,"A Musical Vaudeville," which premiered Off-Broadway in 1974. To continue its season celebrating Off-Broadway, York Theatre Company presents a new look at the works of the prolific and influential absurdist playwright Eugene Ionesco, famous for his plays The Bald Soprano, Rhinoceros, The Chairs and Exit the King (which recently enjoyed a hit revival on Broadway starring Geoffrey Rush, Susan Sarandon and Lauren Ambrose). Plays, playlets, and poetry by this master of the absurd transport us into a zany musical vaudeville, where humor is the antidote to the world's realities.  Enter for a chance to win. Plus we've got a discount offer too.

DebraWhat's in those cosmetics? Eco Chi designer Debra Duneier is talking about cosmetics and skin care products today and the importance of checking the ingredients.  She reminds us that what we put on our skin goes into our body, so in an effort to get us on track for a healthier life, check out this list of 10 chemicals to avoid in your cosmetic and personal care items.  And she's got the scoop on some delightful organic skin care products too plus a discount offer.

cheryl terranceLighten Up the Winter. Feng Shui and eco designer Cheryl Terrace has some great tips to lighten up winter.  She writes, "This is the time of year we 'go inside' physically and figuratively. It is a wonderful time to do what the earth does, retreat deep within and cultivate inner renewal (hence, the perfect time for resolutions). It is also during these short days many of us experience the 'winter blues'. There are ways, other than jetting off to a tropical island (which I also recommend), to make these cold days more bearable."  Read her tips for lightening up your winter.
