Happenings Around Town, plus Giveaways & Special Offers

new year's resolutionCan you believe we're already through the first week of the New Year? Everyone seemed to return from the holidays in full hyper mode. Thank goodness for weekends. In case in your hustle bustle week you missed any of our news, we've got a fabulous spa giveaway to Costa Rica ($6100 value). And our friends at the Diet Center NYC have a terrific offer just for Tomatoes that will help you keep that resolution this year. Trust us, their program works.  But hurry because the special offer ends Jan. 15th.  And check out our sidebar for other new postings this week.  With this mild winter weather, you're going want to be out and about.  Check out Sandi Durell's cabaret suggestions for this month, and read on for some interesting things to do that will keep you informed, healthy, and entertained!

Abigail DisneyJan. 10th An Evening with Abigail Disney

The Metro Chapter of the US National Committee for UN Women has 5 tickets available for Tomatoes to a private salon event in NYC with filmmaker Abigail Disney who will discuss her critically acclaimed PBS series, "Women, War, and Peace."  Donation is $140.  Get the details, but you have to sign up quickly.

nancyFree Fitness Walking Program at Fort Tryon Park. There's nothing like getting outside to walk, even in the winter. Join personal trainer Nancy Bruning on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday mornings at Fort Tyron Park for one hour of walking, stretching, strengthening, and body toning using only the park, your own Tomato bodies, and gravity. All levels welcome.  Free.  Get the scoop.

bargeHead to the Barge for Music. We don't know how we didn't know about this sooner, since Bargemusic has been around since 1977, but we're so glad to know about it now.  Bargemusic  presents chamber music in an unlikely and startlingly beautiful venue-a floating barge at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge. Both established and emerging musicians perform at Bargemusic on a small stage with the dramatic backdrop of the East River and lower Manhattan skyline.  And every Saturday at 3PM they have free performances.  Get the scoop.

restaurant weekRestaurant Week and 2 for 1 on Broadway. We love this incentive to get us out of our winter cocoons. Winter restaurant week starts January 16th with $35 dinners and $24 lunches at some of NYC's best restaurants. Combine that with Broadway week and get 2 for 1 tickets to the hottest Broadway and off-Broadway shows. Almost makes you love winter. Get the details.

Cheers,
