Kissing in Times Square; Free Museum Passes; King Tut Discounts; Pop Tarts
WWII ended 65 years ago today. And while most Tomatoes weren't born yet, we've all seen the iconic "kiss" photo of the sailor kissing a woman in Times Square. And if you hurry over today, you can enter the
Times Square Kiss-In to commemorate the day. Plus we've got the scoop on
free museum passes, and
discounts to the King Tut exhibit. And if you do get to Times Square, check out the new Pop-Tart store. We confess, we've never been fans of this card-board like breakfast snack, but the sushi Pop Tart has us intrigued. And speaking of "pop tarts", we happened to catch
Lindsay Lohan's mom, Dina Lohan, on
The Today Show yesterday. Seems she "blames everybody" else for Lindsay's problems. Read on.

Kissing in Times SquareHead over to Times Square for all kinds of fun today -
kissing contests, free makeovers from Maybelline, and more. Couples of all ages and from all walks of life are invited to meet in front of the sculpture "Unconditional Surrender", which memorializes the famous iconic LIFE magazine cover photo taken by Alfred Eisenstaedt. The program starts at 11:00 a.m. Even if you're not kissing, head over to watch the fun. Details at
3T Events.
Get free passes to museums including the Intrepid |
Free Museum PassesHere's a great reason to live in the suburbs of NYC. Many of the public libraries on Long Island, New Jersey and Westchester, offer free passes to many of New York City's museums. Like, the Museum of Natural History, the Intrepid, the Guggenheim, the New York Botanical Gardens and more. Strangely however, The New York City Public Library does not offer passes. What's up with that? But if you're in the 'burbs,
check out your local library.

King Tut Discount TicketsA few years ago, we saw the King Tut exhibit at a museum in Florida and it was awesome. And now the exhibit, with even more artifacts, is at Times Square. It will only be there until Jan. 2, 2011 and then supposedly everything will go back to Egypt will it will remain forever. (Or at least until another lucrative expo opportunity.) We're definitely catching this before it leaves NYC though. And here's the best part. You can get
discounted tickets via Goldstar. You have to be a member, but it's free to join and so worth it. Full price tickets are $22.32 - $33.21 Goldstar prices: $11.16-$16.60 (plus fees).
Linday Lohan |
Pop Tarts
Yes, there's the new pop-up Pop Tart store at Times Square to check out. But the term is also used these days to refer to Hollywood's young "bad girls", which sadly is how the talented
Lindsay Lohan is often described. Her Mom doesn't seem to be providing much adult supervision these days, and on her recent
interview on the Today Show, she blames everybody else for Lindsay's problems. Isn't it time Lindsay took responsibility for Lindsay? Read more at our
Tomato Soup blog, and let us know what you think.
Well that's it for today. Go grab a guy and kiss him!
Cheers,
