Mozart and DooWop; China and Egypt

Harken back to the summer of 1961. Okay so some of you Tomatoes weren't born yet, but the #1 hit of the summer was The Tokens "The Lion Sleeps Tonight". (They're also  LI Music Hall of Fame inductees.)  And here's the fun nostalgic part Tomatoes - you can head to Brooklyn on August 20th and hear The Tokens, along with some other fun DooWop groups too. We've got the scoop.  And if Mozart is more your style, you're in luck this summer.  The Mostly Mozart Festival is back at Lincoln Center and we've got the scoop on discounted tickets. More good news: NYC Summer Restaurant Week has been extended through Aug. 6. We've got our favorite pick.  And if you're a Tomato who loves travel adventures but doesn't want to go it alone, read on for some great trips to China and Egypt with a woman's travel group.  And don't forget we're giving away books, theater tickets, and our NYC Getaway too.

Women's Travel Groups
Phyllis Stoller, our women's travel expert, has a fun history of adventurous women travelers through the centuries.  And she reminds us that their reasons for travel - excitement, to learn how others live, and shopping too - are not all that different from the reasons women travel for leisure today.  And if you're a solo woman looking for some great adventures, Phyllis has the scoop on the Women's Travel Club and three upcoming trips this year - China, Egypt and Tuscany.

The Water Club - Our Restaurant Week Pick
We love that Summer Restaurant Week has been extended to Sept. 6.  Some of our favorites, and we're sure yours too are on the list, with lunches ($24.07) and/or dinners for $35.  A couple of weeks ago, we had a fabulous dinner at The Water Club, which is one of our perennial favorites. Their 3 course $35 dinner features three entree choices, including 1 ¼ lb lobsters, and hanger steak, plus a great choice of appetizers (a large lobster cocktail is one) and 3 great dessert choices, like key lime pie and strawberry short cake. No skimping on their menu. The place was packed on a beautiful summer evening as we dined and watched the East River bridges and the NYC skyline fade to night. The service was terrific, plus there's live piano music in the bar, and cocktails and dining on the outside upper deck too.  Get more restaurant week details and menus at 3T Events.
