Bling, Summer Linens, and Blueberry Bushes
It's shopping Tuesday Tomatoes and we've got a little something this week for just about every Tomato, starting with bling!  What's hot in jewelry, who's wearing what, and where to get the look for a lot less too.  And every Tomato needs a summer linen in her wardrobe.  Our shopping and style guru Kathy Fahy has great tips this week on where to find the very best linen.  And our urban gardener, Valerie Block, is sharing her favorite gardening shopping spots both in the city and online too. We're ordering our blueberry bush (which can be grown on your deck anywhere) right now.  So prune your blueberry bush, then throw on a little linen dress, accessorize with a little bling, and kick back with the perfect martini.  Don't you just love summer?

Forget the Gold. Go for the Bold.
Here's one of our little secrets.  We love jewelry and we have a few wonderful good pieces and we love it when people compliment us about them.  But the best is when we get similar compliments when wearing a really, really inexpensive piece of costume jewelry.  We use to pipe up and say, "oh we found this for only, blah, blah dollars".  Now we just say "thank you."  So as jewelry lovers, we were excited to get the scoop on  the hot jewelry trends from the editors at JCK ,the jewelry industry's trade magazine.   They just returned from the industry's premier jewelry show in Las Vegas, and they've got the scoop on this  year's four most prevalent and prominent trends .  It's all about making "bold" statements.

A great example are these beautiful Irene Neuwirth jade chandelier earrings that Glee's Lea Michele wore to this year's Tony Awards.  Irene Neuwirth can be found at high end stores like Barney's and her earrings start at $1,000 and go up and way up from there.  Of course, you can always head to one of our favorite inexpensive costume jewelry stores and create a similar look (not in real Jade of course.)  Get the top jewelry trends at 3T Shopping.

The Lure of Linen
Our shopping and style guru, Kathy Fahy writes, "It's hot. You have nothing to wear that is cool, and I mean that literally and figuratively. And you need to look your best because you are a Tomato with style! Your problem has just been solved! Treat yourself to a white (my first preference) linen shirt or shirt dress.  No.... not one that has been in your closet for years. " Where to find the perfect linen?  Not at the usual suspects.  Read on for Kathy's linen advice.

Shopping for your urban (or anywhere) garden
Our NYC urban gardener, Valerie Block, is sharing some of favorite gardening supply shops in New York City where you can buy the essentials.  And she's got a couple of her favorite online stores too where you'll find those blueberry bushes that can be grown on just about any patio, and where to buy an automated watering system so you don't have to beg the neighbors to water for you.  Read on.

Excuse us now, we need to water those plants!

Arthur Schwartz is sharing his favorite pepper dish   Peperonata is made with sweet red peppers (or a mix) and plum tomatoes.  Serve it as an antipasto -- with bread to mop up the juices -- on toasted bread as a bruschetta topping, or  as a side dish.   Yum!  Get the recipe.
