Fashion Forward with Sex and the City
Yes tomatoes. Sex and the City fever is back with the latest installment featuring the gals on a fabulous Moroccan vacation in the Sex and the City 2 movie which opens in theaters everywhere this weekend. And while we love Carrie, Miranda, Samantha, and Charlotte, the real stars of the movie are the often over the top clothes, rumored to have cost $10 million. Yes - million! So watch and drool at the parade of Chanels, Pradas, Diors, and Christian Louboutins, or laugh at some of the really over the top stuff.
But either way, it's great escapism from the economic realities most of us tomatoes are dealing with these days. But leaving aside the $200,000 necklaces, the $2,000 purses, and the $900 shoes, there are some great dresses and terrific sunglasses featured in the film, that are not totally out in the shopping stratosphere. And if you like the look, you can usually shop it for less too. So pour yourself a cosmo, and checkout a few highlights of some of the pieces we like. We've tracked down where to buy them too - maybe it's time for a little splurge?
"Carrie" in Halston Heritage.

Purple, Pink, Yellow, and Orange
Not a color combo we would imagine, but somehow, the look works on Carrie. And this cute and flirty Halston Heritage purple cocktail dress, while not for every tomato, can definitely work for tomatoes with good legs, and a young attitude. The dress is $435 and is available at stores like Neiman Marcus and, Bloomindales and online too. (At least until the movie comes out.) We love the $170 orange sunglasses too. And we have to say, Carrie's hot pink Christian Louboutin Sylvia HoBo bag is to die for - as is the $1800 price tag, which would send Mr. Tomato into cardiac arrest as he strangled us for bringing this baby home. But we did find a fun "sort of" look alike for $22.99. Get the details.
The Little White Dress | The Little White Dress Our gal SJP is now the creative director for Halston Heritage, a new line of reasonably priced vintage inspired clothes, like this little white dress, which we love, and its $325 price tag. And we're sure that most tomatoes could beautifully accessorize the LWD without the $198,000 Solange Azagury-Partridge gemstone necklace that's adorning Sarah's little neck, and the $1500 Chanel clutch. But we have to say, we are lusting after the $525 sunglasses. We've got the shopping scoop on the dress and the sunglasses. You're on your own for the vintage necklace.
Pink Dior |
The "You'd Have be Charlotte" to Own this Outfit At the opposite spectrum from downtown gal Carrie, is everybody's favorite uptown, Park Avenue Charlotte, dressed here in a scene from the movie in over $10,000 worth of Christian Dior. And yes tomatoes, that is a Lady Dior pink lizard bag that sells for $6,650 - if you can even find it, which we think requires a trip to Paris, on your private jet of course!
The Carrie Flat |
The Sex and the City "Carrie" Flat
But you can find these adorable "Carrie" inspired foldup flats that you can throw in your handbag when your feet can't stand those stilettos a second longer. And at under $65, they might be the best Sex and the City fashion inspired bargain you'll find. Get the Details at 3T Shopping.
Here's to fantasy and a little escapism. We'll have ours with a cosmo please.
Cheers,
