May and June are definitely celebration months -weddings, graduations, anniversaries, Memorial Day, the start of summer, or just about everything and anything.  If your calendar has any openings, we've got a roundup of celebration worthy events, and some suggestions of wines to go with them too.

May 26 - June 1 Celebrate Fleet Week and Memorial Day Weekend
Fleet Week has a variety of events over the Memorial Day weekend, starting Wednesday May 26 with the Parade of Ships up the Hudson River. And on Friday May 28 head to pier 86 for Broadway Showcase with performances from Lend Me A Tenor, Promises Promises, American Idiot, Addam's Family, Million Dollar Quartet and Hair. Get more details at 3T Events.

May 30 - Celebrate Taiwan - Free Passport
Head to Union Square (no passport required) and enjoy the largest Taiwanese American outdoor festival in the USA - "Passport to Taiwan" to explore many wonders of the Taiwanese American heritage.  From mouth-watering delicacies, arts & crafts and live performances, you will be surrounded by the vibrant energy of the Taiwanese American community.  Admission is free.  More details at 3T Events.

gabJune 11 - Celebrate the start of the Women's Global Movement at a reception  at Hunter College honoring women whose leadership during the First UN World Conference on Women (Mexico City, 1975) empowered women worldwide to begin working together, forging a global women's movement.  This reception will take place during the annual conference of the US National Committee for UNIFEM (The United Nations Development Fund for Women).  The two day conference will focus on Ending Violence Against Women.
