Pollen, Pampering, Perks, and Power

We're loving spring and obviously, alliterations today too.  "P" is the theme,  as in "P" is for pollen.  If you're one of the 35 million Americans like us who've got that sneezy, wheezing, runny nose, itchy red eye thing going on right now, we've got a great article this week for allergy sufferers from one of Long Island's leading physicians in the field of Otolaryngology --  aka, an ear, nose and throat guy.  "P" is also for pool, poker, and pampering, which is what's in store for tomatoes who attend our May 6 Event. "P" is for perks too, and we've got theater ticket giveaways for two great shows right now.  And we know you Tomatoes have power, but did you know that the fruit kind does too? Read on.

gabP is for Pollen - The Big Sneeze
We just sneezed all over our keyboard, writing that headline. If you're an allergy sufferer, whether it's seasonal or year-round, then this week's article by Dr. Jay Youngerman, M.D., a leading Long Island Otolaryngologist has some great advice, starting with navigating the drug store aisle. He'll help you make sense of decongestants, antihistimines, and nasal sprays. But if your allergies go deeper than just seasonal, it may be be time to finally get to the root of the problem. If you've avoided that route because you don't want allergy shots, well listen up, there are other alternatives, like allergy drops. Read, The Big Sneeze. Great advice for you and anyone you know with allergies.

gabP is for Power, as in Tomato Power
We know tomatoes have power, but enough to power a lamp? Well In honor of Earth Day, eco-designer Cheryl Terrace has the scoop for us on an LED lamp that is actually powered by tomatoes. An example of what she says is why she sees red when she hears green these days. Read her article on why every day should be earth day.  Cheryl was also our guest this week on Tomatoes in the Trenches with some great tips on separating the green from the hype. If you missed the show, listen in at your leisure from our home page.

gabP is for Pampering, and the Best Girl's Night Out Ever!
Join us on May 6 for pool, poker, and pampering. We are heading downtown to Wall Street, the bastion of the old boys club, to The Downtown Association, the fifth oldest social club in New York, whose members have counted U.S. presidents, titans of industry, Wall Street tycoons -- and now tomatoes too! And thanks to one of our tomatoes with juice (and a membership), this members only club is not only opening its doors to tomatoes, but its game room too. So here's your chance to play with the big tomatoes, and improve your pool game, enhance your poker skills, get a manicure, makeup advice, your palm read, enjoy the company of other fun tomatoes, and of course enjoy some great food and wine too. We'll have goody bags,a raffle to help a terrific non-profit that's helping women in Zimbabwe, and more surprises to come. Tickets are $75 and they will be selling out faster than the stock market can go down. Get your game on and join us!

"P" is for Perks just for Tomatoes
We've got two plays we're giving tickets away to, just for tomato subscribers.  And don't keep all the perks to yourselves, tomatoes. Tell your friends to subscribe so they can enter too!

gabTwo tomatoes will win 2 tickets each to see Dr. Knock. Health care reform of a darkly comic kind drives Jules Romains' prescient comedy at The Mint Theater. Get the details on how to enter for a chance to win.

39 StepsAnd two more tomatoes will win 2 tickets to see the long running 39 Steps, Broadway's smash-hit comedy thriller based on the beloved Hitchcock film, which has been  honored with TWO Tony Awards! Get the details on  how to enter for a chance to win.
