In and out of NYC - free stuff, travel and the panty hose debate
Happy Saturday tomatoes. With summer just about here, now is the time when many of us think of heading out of town. Our travel expert, Phyllis Stoller recently returned from a 10-day customized trip to Jordan, one of the safest and friendliest countries in the Middle East. Plus she's got great tips for packing light. And who hasn't had an annoying plane ride with other peoples screaming kids? Okay, we confess sometimes they've been ours or related to us. So you'll love Judith Drake's plea this week to please "unplug kids". PTA Mom on the other hand thinks anything that keeps them from running up and down the aisles is a good thing. We've got PTA Mom's top ten news picks of the week too. And The Glam Gals stirred up a lot of tomatoes with the no, no to panty hose article. They've replied to your comments. But for those of us who may be hanging around town, there's actually lots of free stuff to do this summer in NYC and we've got some suggestions. And we've got the scoop on half priced tickets to some fun events too this week, thanks to our sponsor Goldstar. So read on.
Jordan and Traveling Light anywhere Travel expert Phyllis Stoller writes this week, "It has been a while since I took an 'exotic' trip, wanted to pack lightly and did not want to look like an aging backpacker. In past years I could get ready on automatic pilot, but this time actually had to make lists and think again. So I am sharing with you Tomatoes how to pack lightly, look decent and come home without 44 k of laundry. And am sharing my secret contacts for the trip I took to Jordan in May." Read more. Those Kids on Airplanes
Speaking of travel, Judith Drake, over 60 and loving it actress, and a producer for In The Trenches Productions, implores parents "Unchain Kids from Machines, Please." She writes this week about a recent plane trip to NYC with a three year old in front of her screaming on take off, "I want my I-Pod". This kinda of proves Mr. Tomatoes theory that children should be checked like luggage at the airport and have their own private compartment somewhere. Read on for Judith's rant this week.
