Tomorrow's Dollars; Cocktails & Laughs, Fireworks and beach chairs
The Three Tomatoes had the best time this week at our Cocktails and Conversations event with mystery writers Mary and Carol Higgins Clark. It was great meeting and chatting with all the tomatoes who turned out on Thursday night. And we were all totally charmed by the Higgins Clark ladies who are very funny, smart, and witty - the perfect tomatoes. But don't ever get on Mary's wrong side, because you just may end up dead in her next novel! We've posted the photos from the event, along with a few other things we learned about these terrific ladies. And make sure to watch the Tony Awards preview show on CBS tonight. Our gal around town, Valerie Smaldone is the program announcer. Tomorrow's Dollars As much as we'd like to evoke the Scarlet O'Hara "I'll think about it tomorrow" approach to life these days, when it comes to recouping our nest eggs thinking about it today might be a better strategy. And our two very smart financial experts have some great advice on 401k's and social security. To 401K or Not I f you work for a company that has stopped matching your contributions to your 401K plan, should you take your marbles and go home? Well according to Pinmoney founder, Cherith Harrison "that's like throwing the baby out with the bath water." Read more to get some great advice on you and your 401K plan. How much do you really know about Social Security
And Savvy Ladies founder, Stacy Francis says that while Social Security will be an important source of income for many tomatoes, how much do you really know about how the program works? She has the questions we should be asking and points us to the resources for the answers too. Read more. What's doing around town and discounts on events I f you haven't walked over to Times Square yet, go for a stroll down traffic free Broadway. And sit in the beach chairs too. Yes, we know there are tomatoes out there who think they're just plain tacky, but sometimes tacky is just plain fun. In fact we strolled by one night this week and even though it was raining, there people just hanging out in the beach chairs. And don't forget Sunday night's fireworks display on the east side to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Queensborough Bridge. And if you're looking for a great deal on events all around town, from theater, to concerts, and more, check out our new sponsor Goldstar, and get half price tickets to all kinds of events, just by becoming a member. It's free to join.
Cheers,
