Lounging in Times Square and other reasons to love NYC this summer

The Three Tomatoes are going on record right now. We love the closing of Broadway at Times Square and Herald Square. How cool is it to sit in a lounge chair in the middle of Times Square and watch the tourists go by? Who needs beaches in the Hamptons? And if that isn't enough reason to love NYC this summer, check out the Grucci fireworks this Sunday on the East Side to celebrate the 100 anniversary of the 59th Street Bridge. But wait, there's more. We've got a new sponsor and you're going to love the half price tickets to events all over NYC too. Pretend you're a tourist, like Valerie Smaldone did over Memorial Weekend.  You'll be surprised how much fun you'll have. And who needs money when you have love? Plus take a walk along the Hudson River and help women all over the world.  We've also got some great tips from other tomatoes this week, and a review of a new book that tells you how to "stop the clock" without the knife.  And congratulations to all our recent contest winners too.  So read on.

Money Woes Can Actually Benefit Your Love Life!dr gildaToday's guest columnist, Dr. Gilda Carle, is an internationally-known psychotherapist and relationship expert.  She is Match.com's "Ask Dr. Gilda" advice columnist published on MSN.com.  She writes,"When money is removed from the table, love becomes its own currency. This is great news for relationships. Amid the doom and gloom, sizzling passion can build. And the "us against the economy" interaction creates an unflappable bond."  Read more on how this new value system can be an aphrodisiac. Maybe the Beatles were right, "all you need is love."  Although a healthy 401K wouldn't hurt.

Tomato Tips: Bay leaves for cashmere, cooking in web site

Whe love hearing from tomatoes. Ada Susman wrote this week and says she puts her cashmere sweaters away with bay leaves, and hasn't had a moth in years. And Linda Carlozzi wrote to tell us about a web site she and her friends are loving, now that more of us are actually cooking in these days.  It's called www.notakeout.com and it has an easy to prepare recipe for the day (plus archives) and includes all the shopping ingredients and step by step cooking instructions.  So throw away those take out menus. Well, maybe not the Chinese, pizza and sushi ones. If you have a great tip, email us tomato@thethreetomatoes.com.

Thanks tomatoes for helping us get new tomatoes

We've just put all the Broadway theater tickets in the mail to the nine winners of our "tell another tomatoes contest".  Many thanks to all of you for helping us grow our subscribers with or without winning tickets. So keep spreading the word.

Here's to summer in NYC and great tomatoes everywhere.

Cheers,

After the Lone  Ranger saved the day and rode off into  the sunset, the grateful citizens would ask, "Who was that masked man?" Invariably, someone would answer, "I don't know, but he left  behind this silver bullet."
