A Crazy Week, Organic Wines, Chapter 13, and Brooklyn Heights

The recession is still here. The swine flu has arrived. Ooops, we meant to say the H1N1 virus. But really isn't a swine by any other name still a swine? So thank goodness May is here in all its lushness. But what a week it's been. Checkout PTA Mom's "top 10 week in review items". Read wine expert, Cristina Mariani-May's salute to one of the great women in wine, and her organic wine picks too. And financial expert Cherith Harrison has a very informative article on bankruptcy, which is becoming an increasing reality for millions of Americans.  And if all this makes you want to go back to a place "Forgotten by Time" head to Brooklyn Heights for an historic walking tour on Sunday. So pour yourself a glass of organic wine and read on.

PTA Mom's Top Ten Week in Review Musings
pta mom derbyPTA Mom is heading to the Kentucky Derby, but she found time to do her top 10 list for the week.

10.  Record breaking spring started. Irony of a beautiful night and sleeping with the windows open is the annoying birds outside my window singing at the crack of dawn. Go away.
9.   All this talk about swine flu put a damper on my enjoying a bacon, egg & cheese sandwich.  But pork industry says wait- you can't catch H1N1, ABC, MYOB, LOL, BYOB, or whatever the new name is, from eating pork.
8.   Biden suggests to family members not to ride the subway. He's not really scared of swine flu; he just hasn't taken Krav Maga.

The Queen of Chilean Wines
novasThe Concha y Toro brand is familiar to most wine drinking tomatoes. It is Chile's leading wine producer and is critically acclaimed for making some of the country's - and world's - best wines.  But what you may not know is that the power behind this great vintner was a nature-loving, strong willed tomato,  Doña Emiliana Subercaseaux who was the wife of the founder Don Melchor Concha y Toro. When her husband died in 1892 it was she and her son who ran the firm.  Read our wine expert Cristina Mariani May's salute to this amazing woman and learn about the organic wines that have been inspired by her. Perfect for Mother's Day. Read more.

What you should know about bankruptcy, but dread asking
cherith"Bankruptcy isn't just Donald Trump's hobby anymore. Make no mistake tomatoes; bankruptcy is not to be undertaken lightly. It is an increasing reality for millions of Americans who have arrived at a place where they can simply no longer manage. If you find yourself here, take some comfort in knowing that you are in good and plentiful company."  So says, financial expert Cherith Harrison and she explains the differences between Chapter 7 and 13, but just as importantly she talks about the emotional journey too.  Read more.
