Movies, Music, and Money

The Three Tomatoes love movies and music. And what's that green stuff we don't have much of any more called? Oh right, money. We love that too. So we have a terrific movie to tell you about; our fabuolous evening with Phoebe Snow; and not one, but two financial experts with some great advice that could help you with that green stuff.

Movies:  Lymelife
lymelifeThe best dark family comedy since American Beauty with a great ensemble cast. One of our favorite lines in the movie is "they say you can hear the train no matter where you live on Long Island". This smart, funny, dark script was written by Award-winning filmmakers Derick Martini (who also directed the film) and his brother Steven based on their experiences growing up on suburban Long Island.

LYMELIFE, produced by Martin Scorsese and Alec Baldwin, is a funny and biting story about the dark side of suburban paradise and the loss of innocence.  The terrific ensemble cast includes Baldwin as the philandering husband, Cynthia Nixon, Jill Hennessey, Timothy Hutton, real life brothers Kieran Culkin and Rory Culkin, and Emma Roberts (Julia Roberts's niece.) But it is the young teens, Rory Culkin and Emma Roberts who steal the show. Read more...

Music:  A fabulous interview with the amazing Phoebe Snow
Liz SmithThe tomatoes who attended our April 1 event "An Intimate Conversation with Singer Phoebe Snow" were mesmerized by Valerie Smaldone's interview with this legend.  We laughed, we cried, we got goosebumps.  We were treated to a melody of her commercial jingles (who knew) and got a little preview of her operatic voice too. If you missed this great evening, you can read highlights of the interview and view our photos too.  Wow! And many thanks to Etcetera Etcetera in the heart of the theater district for hosting our series of "Intimate Conversations."

Our next event:  Best selling mystery book writers, Mary Higgens Clark and her daughter Carol Higgens Clark. Details soon.

Money:  Working out with your bank, and your money personality
Liz SmithCherith Harrison, founder of Pinmoney.com, has some sound advice for tomatoes who are concerned about keeping their homes.  Cherith blows the whistle on some things you can do to save you home that the banks don't necessarily want you to know about, in "Working Out with Your Bank."

Liz SmithAre you an innocent, a warrior, a victim?  These are just a few of the money personalities that Savvy Ladies Stacy Francis writes about this week in "What's your money personality" and why it matters.

Cheers,
