Get your Spring springing: Events, Theater, Career Workshops and discounts!

"I am thankful for laughter, except when milk
comes out of my nose."  ~Woody Allen

Yes, tomatoes it's Happy Thursday again.  (See last Thursday's newsletter for reference.) And gosh darn, The Three Tomatoes are going to be happy if it kills us. Although actually laughter can make us healthier.  According to Web MD, laughing heartily 100 times a day gives the same cardio results as working out for 20 minutes! Which means we'd have to laugh our heads off about every 6 minutes. Now the thought of that is already making us laugh. Who comes up with these statistics?Another way to get happy is to get out and about, and here are a slew of choices to get your spring springing.

April 1- No day for fools, just tomatoes
Liz SmithSpring is finally here even though the weather doesn't know it yet. The days are longer.  And on April 1 (no fooling) you can join The Three Tomatoes, have a cocktail or two, and meet other great tomatoes.  And you'll get to listen in (and ask a few questions too) when Valerie Smaldone interviews the legendary singer/songwriter, Phoebe Snow about her music, her life journey, and her new CD.  (And we'll be giving away theater tickets too.)  Get more details.

Head to Broadway
And the good news keeps rolling in. The Three Tomatoes have discounted ticket offers for three fabulous Broadway shows:  Rooms a rock romance, 39 Steps, and Irena's Vow.  And here's more good news. Over the next few weeks we'll be giving away tickets to a few lucky tomatoes for each of these shows too.

ROOMS a rock romance takes place in 1970's roomsGlasgow where Monica, an ambitious singer/songwriter and Ian, a reclusive rocker, become both creatively and romantically entangled. Their music takes them to London and ultimately to New York City where they find themselves in the midst of the vibrant new music scene.  We have discounted tickets starting at $46.60.

Irena's VowFeaturing a cast of ten, IRENA'S VOW is the riveting, life-affirming story about one of the most courageous and unsung heroines of World War II. During the German occupation of Poland, Irena Gut Opdyke, a Polish Catholic, was forced to work as head housekeeper for a prominent German major. Over a two-year period of service, Irena would risk her own life in order to protect the lives of twelve Jewish refugees whom she secretly took under her care. IRENA'S VOW is the extraordinary true story of one woman's choice and the twelve lives that would ultimately be saved - or lost - by her decision.  Orchestra and Mezzine seats as low of $49.

39 Steps.  Broadway's longest running comedy!  39 stepsWinner! 2 tony® awards!! Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have...(mystery chords!) THE 39 STEPS, Broadway's most intriguing, most thrilling, most riotous, most UNMISSABLE comedy smash!  The mind-blowing cast of 4 plays over 150 characters in this fast-paced tale of an ordinary man on an extraordinarily entertaining adventure.  Get tickets for $39.

How to Stand Out and Be Noticed
A thought that will make lots of job searchers happy.  And if you're in the media business, you're going to want to join our friends at the NYC  Chapter of American Women in Radio and Television on March 31. They are holding a workshop called, "Working in a Transitional Economy" that will focus on how to get noticed among the many people who are in the job market today.  Panelists include two human resource professionals, a headhunter and a resume expert.  Tickets for non-members ore only $15, but reservations are a must. Get more info.

Here's to spring in your steps, and happy thoughts.

'til next week,
