The "New" New'; a Hugh Jackman scoop; Phoebe Snow; Mascara; No Crunches; Get More Dates; Winter travel, and so much more

Wow, The Three Tomatoes feel like we've been away from you tomatoes for eons and there's so much to catch up on plus lots of new content at our web site too.  First let's say Happy New Year to you, and that we're optimistic for 2009, the "new" new, with its promise and potential for ushering in a return to good old fashioned values, and new thinking.  And we're all for embracing positive change, which is about as close as we get to making New Year's resolutions because honestly, we've never met a resolution we didn't break.  So we just try to do our best every day and move on from the days when we screw up.  And that's the end of today's philosophy session.  Now about Hugh Jackman, Phoebe Snow, mascara, flat tummies, and getting in date shape for single tomatoes.

No lunch for Hugh Jackman
So while most celebrities were skiing in Aspen or sunning in St. Barts, the world's sexiest man, Hugh Jackman and his family, spent New Year's Eve in Proctorsville, Vermont, where The Three Tomatoes happened to be too.  We presume he was skiing, since Proctorsville is a stone's throw from Okemo Mt.  We were staying with friends and he was reportedly staying at the Castle Inn, just down the road.  Now right around the corner from our friends' home is Crows Bakery, a lovely little bakery/café with the best breads and pies and cakes you will find anywhere, baked with love and perfection by Robin who along with her husband George, own the bakery.   As it turns out our friend helps out at the bakery/café and was there New Year's Eve day. The place was bustling with people picking up goodies for their celebrations and they had a big late lunch crowd from the mountain, but George degreed no matter what, they would close by 4PM so everyone could go home to celebrate.  So at 3PM, when Hugh Jackman walked in with his two little kids hoping to get lunch, our friend said no, and now has perhaps the singular distinction of turning down the world's sexiest man.  You can't make this stuff up.  They did feel a little guilty (with the exception of George who didn't know or care who Hugh is) and later sent cookies to the kids at the Inn.  And our friend did confirm Hugh's sexiness, but apparently that alone will not get you a sandwich in Proctorsville, Vermont.

Meet singer/songwriter Phoebe Snow on Feb. 10th
phoebe snowOn Feb. 10th in the third of our insiders' event series, Intimate Conversations, the amazing singer Phoebe Snow will join us for an intimate conversation.  The Three Tomatoes have been huge fans since the release of her self-titled debut album in 1974, which featured "Poetry Man" which she also wrote.  The song became a top 5 single, and won Snow a Grammy Award nomination for Best New Artist and established her as a formidable singer/songwriter. Platinum records, the cover of Rolling Stone magazine, and legions of fans followed.  Phoebe Snow has remained one of the most distinctive voices in popular music.  And she has a brand new CD out, "Phoebe Snow - Live", her first in concert album. It was recorded on July 30 and 31, 2008 at the historic Bearsville Theater in Woodstock, NY.  We've posted a video clip of Phoebe performing "Poetry Man" at 3T.TV.   You're going to love meeting Phoebe in person and hearing more about her life journey, so get your tickets now.  Details are at our events page.  And while you're there, if you haven't already, get your tickets to meet Wendy Kaufman, the (former) Snapple Lady who will join us Jan. 13th; and tomatoes favorite food critic and author, Gael Greene on Jan. 27th.

Do you like it long or thick?
Don't get too excited, we're only talking about mascaras.  And there are a ton of new ones on the market, with all kinds of promises.  So to check out the claims, we asked real tomatoes to try out some of these new products, take before and after photos, and tell us if it's tomatoes up, or tomatoes down.   So check out our brand new 3T Reviews section of our web site.   You can post your own rating and write a review too.   We'll be reviewing all kinds of stuff over the coming months, and suggestions are welcomed.   Email us at tomato@thethreetomatoes.com.
