Your to do’s this year
Thanks to all of you who responded to The Three
Tomatoes “R” word
email last week, and for sending us your lists of the things you are resolving to do in 2007. As promised, we are
publishing some of our favorites and you’ll note, not one of them is about giving up anything. No wonder we love
you tomatoes.
From Warrior Princess
“Mom, a senior tomato, has had a terrible 2006 (brain surgeries, heart
ailment etc. etc.) and I keep making excuses "oh she can't do that and no that probably will be a disaster...." Not for 2007 - I am going to take
that senior tomato out, around and on the town starting with the Russian Tea Room! For me, I will be doing Aikido for the first
time in my life, I'll keep you posted.”
Now The Three Tomatoes
confess, we had no idea what Aikido is, so asked WP to elaborate. Turns out our “guesses” (new Kama
Sutra moves, new mind enhancing drug, etc.) were way off. Aikido is a Japanese martial art of self-defense that employs locks
and holds and utilizes the principle of nonresistance to cause an opponent's own momentum to work against him or her. (Hmmm…)
Aikido emphasizes the importance of achieving complete mental calm and control of one's own body to master an opponent's attack. There are
no offensive moves. So much for the best defense is a good offense. But what do silly baseball
players know? Or is that football? Anyway, we look forward to updates from WP on her
progress.

Hi Three Tomatoes, I have been reading your emails for awhile now. I really
enjoy them. I have been talking about going on a trip up the Baltic Sea and going into Russia. After five years of talking about, I am finally
going this year. I can't wait.
Hooray for Michele. The Three
Tomatoes went to Russia a couple of years ago…Moscow and then a 1,000 mile river cruise to St.
Petersburg. It is an awesome trip. Plus there’s lots of vodka.

What a great letter to start the year off. Well, my
resolutions this year are:
- finish my first novel
- be a good mother
- keep the "fabulous" bit in my new "mommy"
identity
- take up landscape design and use it on our 15 acres in the
Catskills
- reconnect with friends who are dispersed throughout the world
Well clearly VM does not plan to sleep this year. You go
girl!
And from Georgia Richardson (aka Queen Jaw Jaw)
1) Eat more Oreo's....oh yeah, like nobody will know who wrote this one?
2) Finish book #3 - Baby needs a new pair of shoes, ah, make that
vacation
3) Organize my office or, The Black Hole as it's known by
others
4) Organize my closet, or The Blacker Hole as it's known by
others
5) Clean the moat and find something besides editors to feed the
alligators
6) Tell people like The Three
Tomatoes how much I like them, NOW, not later
7) Stop being so suspicious of others (Hey, who moved my
tomato?)
8) Make sure I see ALL of the reruns of Dallas. I love hating JR, don't
you?
9) Laugh more often, Listen more to others...and speak less.
10) Call Mom
Georgia is a good ‘ole southern girl with a wicked sense of
humor. Our kind of tomato.
A new take on “If”
We normally never publish items from all those emails that make the rounds of
forwarded, and forwarded, but this one is too funny not too share and it was sent to us by one of our favorite tomatoes. So with
apologizes to not crediting whomever penned this, and post mortem apologies to Kipling, here we go.
Resolutions
If you can start the day without
caffeine,
If you can be cheerful, ignoring
aches and pains,
If you can resist complaining and
boring people with your troubles,
If you can understand when loved
ones are too busy to give you time,
If you can take criticism and
blame without resentment,
If you can face the world without
lies and deceit,
If you can conquer tension without
medical help,
If you can relax without
liquor,
If you can sleep without the aid
of drugs,
If you can do all these
things,
Then you are probably the family
dog.
Well tomatoes, sounds like you and your dogs are all off to a great start
of a new year.
We love to hear from you, so keep emailing us at tomato@thethreetomatoes.com with whatever’s on your mind, thoughts, or suggestions for The Three
Tomatoes.
‘til next week,
