WHAT LIES BENEATH

What lies beneath your clothing? Raise your hand if you're wearing cotton undies that come up to your waist. A cotton or Lycra sports bra.

You don't have to show more skin to look and feel sexier, you simply have to change your undergarments. The minute you switch to lingerie that’s silky, frivolous and feminine, you'll feel flirty and feminine, too.

Beautiful underwear can set the right mood at every hour of the day or night. And given modern technology, you don't have to sacrifice aesthetics for function as many panties, bras and camisoles do their job well and look lovely.

However, don't underestimate the sensuousness of a garter belt over pantyhose or real silk anything over polyester. The same thing goes for your pajamas or robe, which, if attractive enough, can double as an evening wrap, dress, or wear-outdoors top or bottom. This season, since lace is the fabric of choice, let that guide you in your choice of underthings. Then wear them in the following ways:

Let the lacy edge of a black slip show at the kick pleat of a skirt.

Allow the lace trim of a camisole to peek out at your décolletage.

Slip a lace or lace-edged cami under a sheer blouse: black under black; white under white or nude under either.

Try a black lace bra or bodysuit under a black suit jacket or cardigan for evening.

Pull on a pair of lacy black tights under a black skirt or dress. Finish with black pumps or high-heeled black booties.
