Hot and Not at the 2010 Emmys: Purple and Curves Rocked
And Betty White and John Hamm rocked it too.  We love the comic side of John Hamm almost as much as his Don Draper side.  And there just aren’t enough kudos, or Emmys for the amazing Betty White who single handedly is making octogenarians cool and hip.  And she looked absolutely lovely too. We loved the opening of this year’s Emmy Awards show.  And Jimmy Fallon was so adorable, next time we have insomnia we’re watching his show.  We ‘re happy that our favorite, favorite show Mad Men won best drama series, yet again.   We loved that Jane Lynch from Glee won an Emmy and she looked great too.  And we’re just as confused as Edie Falco seemed to be about getting the Emmy for best actress in a comedy series.  If you missed the opening, or just want to see it again, and again, here it is.

But enough about the awards, let’s talk about the clothes. There was lots of white, still lots of black, but it was the color purple that really stood out as the spectacular color of the evening.  And it was worn really well in shades from lilac, like Christina Hendricks gown which we think she looked spectacular in, to the more maroon tone wore by Jane Lynch.   Both proved how terrific larger size women (12+) can look in designer clothes.   On the “not” side of the scale,  Heidi Klum would look great in a paper bag, but honestly, and inch or two or three  more on her dress would have looked better.  And January Jones certainly made a statement in her blue Versace, but we so wanted her to look more Grace Kelly than Grace Jones.  And a comb to her hair might have helped too.   And our favorite dress worn by the younger actresses of the evening, without a doubt, was the knock out worn by Rutina Weseley who plays Tara (one of our favorite characters) on True Blood.  Here's a photo gallery of some of the hits, and misses too.  Click on the photos for our comments, and let us know what you think.  Take our polls and leave a comment below too.

True Blood's Anna Pacquin in body armour? We don't get this gown by Alexander McQueen. We love Edie Falcon, but we think she looks a little boring in black. Designer, Bottega Veneta. But, she said she went for "comfort", so she gets extra points. When geometric go wrong. Lauren Graham in Yigal Azrouel.Mary Hart is fab, but we're not loving this bright, bright blue. And yes, you can have too many ruffles.January Jones definitely made a statement in this Versace number. And we think she forgot her comb. We would have loved a Grace Kelly look.Rita Wilson, what happened? This Prada is a mess, and what's with the shoes? You look dowdy. Sorry.Okay, call us green with envy Tomatoes, but Heidi could have added an inch or three here, and still looked like a knockout.
