Simple things you can do to make the world a better place
Stephanie Garry
My heart and purpose lies in making the lives of those who are struggling a little easier and more manageable. For decades I’ve given my time and energy to local, national and international organizations that provide assistance to those less fortunate. From assisting at local homeless shelters and soup kitchens, to traveling to New Orleans, the Ukraine, Africa and many points in between, I feel I’m at my best when I’m working for the benefit of others. Though I enjoy making my living as an actor and have appeared in over 1,000 commercials, it is the “giving” in my life that I find most rewarding.
[Stephanie Garry is currently working on a book idea that would help readers assess their own “giving style” and to figure out how they, too, can make the world a better, kinder and more meaningful place…even if they have just a minute a day!]
Spring cleaning is all around us! Whether its getting the balcony ready for a bar be que or a garden is being planted the dreaded but uplifting experience of cleaning our closets is right around the corner! I know I always feel satisfied when I clean the closet but oh the effort and time it takes to do a good job and make sure someone else can benefit from the extra pair of black pants that just don't fit anymore.
Below is a list of organizations that will make your closet cleaning a bit easier and will benefit some folks in real need. By donating items your closet you will feel extra good and you will feel even better! Sites are listed as well that accept books, furniture, art, cell phones, DVD movies, antiques, lighting and housewares. By the way if you don't have items to donate there are few sites listed below who are looking for people to help clean up New York- so~start cleaning!
