A smooth jazz cruise that is sure to impress!

One of the truly great pleasures about living in New York is that we are surrounded by water.  And if you have an opportunity to get on a sea faring vessel and take a spin around New York harbor, you are reminded about how spectacular the view is.  Not just nice. Not just pretty. Spectacular.

Think about it:  People stream in from around the world every day to view the iconic lady in the harbor, or the dazzling, gleaming skyline, or even the glittering bridges that seem to sparkle at dusk.

And we, New Yorkers, those born and bred, and others who are long-standing transplants can sometimes forget how amazing it is.  If I’ve whetted your appetite for this water activity, have I got a great night out for you.

Wednesday nights in the summer you can not only enjoy a New York City harbor cruise, (departing from Chelsea Piers) but you can hear the performances of fabulous famous jazz musicians who are on the cruise with you, playing a nice long set while the boat navigates the water ways. Presented by Marquee Concerts, this past Wednesday on a beautiful July night, I enjoyed the music of The Rippingtons. Great performances, fabulous music, beautiful cruise.

There are two sailings each Wednesday:  A sunset cruise, departing at 6:30 PM, and moonlight cruise, departing at 9:30 PM.

The next Smooth Jazz Cruise on August 10 will feature Kirk Whalum and Jeff Golub.
Cruises continue until August 31.

The very reasonable ticket price of $55 includes the cruise and the show. There is a bar on board and you can also pay to have a buffet dinner while enjoying the musical cruise.

A truly terrific New York City event, which I highly recommend for a mid-week summer evening.
