Some awesome charity events...and taking the time to take it easy.....

Wow...the event I co-produced starring Ray Romano has ended and the next day, I needed to not sit at my computer. To not work, to not be in a chair. My back hurt from being in heels and running up and down the aisles at the theater where the Ray Romano concert took place. But it was a simply wonderful night and we raised a good chunk of money for ovarian cancer research through the Sass Foundation for specific projects at Mt. Sinai and NYU Langone Medical Center. All the performers were exceptional and the night went off without a hitch.

Next day, I sat in the sun on my building's roof with a cup of diner coffee and a warm bran muffin. I just breathed in the air and soaked in the spectacular view. I wanted to continue that relaxation process throughout the day, so Rick and I drove up to our favorite street in the Bronx, Arthur Avenue. We just took our time and sat outside at the Arthur Avenue Trattoria enjoying a glass of Italian white and
delicious dishes like carcioffi fritti and pasta con broccoli rape y salsiccia.

The strapping young man in the kitchen was washing dishes and singing wonderful arias at the same time. Tourists were amazed by the home made quality of the food. The sun was shining and the street was buzzing. If you have never been to Arthur Avenue, go. It is the true Little Italy of New York City.

Sunday, it was back to my hosting duties. This time for Cabaret Cares and a benefit for Help Is On the Way Today. A grassroots organization that was founded by one dedicated and determined man who wanted to help children living with HIV and AIDS. These kids are in need. Of everything. Joseph Macchia found a way to get them supplies through this small, yet mighty organization.

The event on Sunday at the Laurie Beehchman Theater highlighed amazing cabaret singers, and began with me doing a live auction of artistically designed backpacks. $16,000 was raised.  Please check out their website for more information. This is an amazing organization.

So that's what I've been up to...That and a few other projects which I will be happy to tell you about...Well, on second thought, rather than talk about projects,  I'd actually like to go back to Arthur Avenue to sit on the street with my Italian white...

Till next time....
