Iris and B. Gerald Cantor Exhibition Hall, 2nd floor
We can’t wait to get to the new Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute exhibition, American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity, drawn from the newly established Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection at the Met with 80 examples of haute couture and high fashion from the 1880s to the 1940s. The exhibit features a series of fashion galleries starting with the “Heiress” with ballroom gowns from the 1880s on display; other galleries include the Gibson Girls, the Flappers, and the “Siren” featuring 1940s ultimate glamour. The exhibition explores how American women initiated style revolutions that mirrored our social, political and sexual emancipation. And if you want an audio tour, everyone’s favorite NYC style icon, Sarah Jessica Parker, does the honors. A related exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum, American High Style: Fashioning a National Collection (May 7–August 1), will highlight masterworks from the Brooklyn Museum Costume Collection. Here are some highlights to make you drool.

Charles James (American, born England, 1906–1978). "Butterfly" Dress, 1955 (on display in the Costume Institute)
1944 Eening Dress from designer Eta Hentz (American, born Hungary
"Heires Ball Gown" 1900-1905 designed by the House of Worth (France)

Børn to be Wild
We’ve been fans of Born shoes, especially their sandals, for a quite a while now for two simple reasons: they’re stylish and comfortable. In fact, we’ve walked over European cities wearing our Born’s (no sneakers on these tomatoes feet) and then dusted them off for evening wear. And any tomato who lives and or works in NYC, knows how great it is when you find shoes you can walk the city streets in. Here’s a sampling of the summer collection. Check out the entire collection at their web site.
