Celebrate the Presidents and more...
The NYC Presidents’ Tour What a perfect weekend to honor our Presidents, right here in NYC by creating your own historical tour. You can start off in Brooklyn Heights at the historical landmark Plymouth Church, which Abraham Lincoln once visited on a trip to NYC. Then head to Wall Street to the steps of Federal Hall, which is the site of George Washington’s inauguration, and tour Federal Hall, which is a wonderful museum honoring our first president. And admission is free. Get the details.
Then make your way up to Gramercy Park to the birthplace of Teddy Roosevelt. The original brownstone he was born in was torn down, but in 1919 (the year he died) private citizens reconstructed his lovely Victorian home. Get the details.
You can tour five restored period rooms reflecting the lifestyle of the Roosevelt’s circa 1865. Then head uptown to Riverside Park, and overlooking the Hudson River is the memorial to Ulysses S. Grant, the largest mausoleum in North America. It includes the tombs of General Grant and his wife, Julia Dent Grant. So that is the real answer to “who is buried in Grant’s tomb.” Get the details.
